2025/26 Theme -- Reducing Food Waste, From Fields to Table

 

The 2025–2026 BIEA STEM Competition season is now underway! This year’s challenge focuses on the theme:

“Reducing Food Waste, From Fields to Table.”

With almost a quarter of all food produced going uneaten, teams are invited to design innovative STEM solutions to reduce food loss and waste at any stage of the supply chain—whether in farming, transport, retail, or at-home consumption.

New for this season:

  • Prerequisite: Every participant must hold a valid BIEA STEM Star Certificate. (multiple pathways to obtain one)

  • Team entries only: Entries must be from teams of 3–5 students—no individual submissions.

Key dates: First-round submission deadline 30 December 2025, finalists announced 30 January 2026, and the International Final Showcase & Youth Voice Forum in July 2026, London
