2027 Theme -- Ocean Balance, Innovating to End Overfishing
The 2027 BIEA STEM Competition season is underway! This year’s challenge focuses on the theme:
“Ocean Balance, Innovating to End Overfishing”
The 2027 BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition challenges young people to explore one of the greatest threats facing our oceans: overfishing. Student teams will investigate its environmental and social impact, then use STEM, creativity and innovation to develop practical solutions. Projects may focus on reducing bycatch, tackling illegal fishing, improving sustainable aquaculture, or designing more selective and low-impact fishing methods. Students will research, design, test and communicate their ideas, showing how innovation can help restore balance to our oceans and protect the future of marine life and communities.
New for this season:

Prerequisite: Every participant must hold a valid BIEA STEM Star Certificate. (multiple pathways to obtain one)

Team entries only: Entries must be from teams of 3–5 students—no individual submissions.

14th July 2027 - Youth Voice Forum, UCL Campus, London

Innovation Beyond Borders, Empowering the Future
The BIEA Chinese Language STEM Competition runs in parallel with the BIEA International STEM Competition and welcomes submissions from any students who would like to enter their projects in Chinese. This initiative aims to remove language barriers, enabling more young people to confidently share their STEM ideas, present innovative solutions, and take part in an international STEM platform.
The Chinese Division is the first of BIEA’s international language STEM competition initiatives. As BIEA continues to expand its international partnerships, we hope to introduce additional language divisions in the future, creating more accessible opportunities for young people around the world to participate in global STEM innovation.

BIEA国际青少年STEM科创大赛中文赛区与BIEA国际STEM科创大赛同步开展，欢迎希望以中文提交作品的学生参加。该赛区旨在消除语言障碍，让更多学生能够自信地用中文表达科学创意、展示创新方案，并参与国际STEM交流。
