✅ Eligibility & Prerequisites

1. STEM Star Certificate Requirement
Every participant in the BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition must hold a valid BIEA STEM Star Certificate to take part.

For the 2025–2026 competition season (transition year), the requirements are:

• Registration: Participants without a BIEA STEM Star Certificate must register and pay (£25 per certificate) for a BIEA STEM Star Project.

• First-round submission: 2026 Competition project submissions are due 30 March 2026. We recommend completing your competition project first, then your BIEA STEM Star Project.
• Previous finalists: Teams from 2023, 2024, or 2025 may exchange their Competition Award Certificate for a BIEA STEM Star Certificate free of charge by 30 March 2025 (no new project required). Get in touch with us at competition@biea.org.uk
• Validity: Once obtained, a BIEA STEM Star Certificate is valid for 3 years. After 3 years, a new BIEA STEM Star Project must be completed to qualify for future competitions.

💡 UK Teams: exempt from STEM Star fee. Please contact: bursary@biea.org.uk.
